Migration From Django To WordPress CMS For Global Performance Marketing Publication
The PerformanceIN team aimed to migrate to a more robust CMS, like WordPress, to enhance their content publishing experience and increase user engagement. Their goal was to complete the migration before their Influencer Marketing Awards event in April 2020. By collaborating closely, the Multidots and PerformanceIN teams successfully launched a new WordPress-powered website, achieving the desired improvements.

Goal
- Enhance the publishing experience for the editorial team and boost user engagement by implementing improved content management features and functionalities.
- Optimize website speed and performance to support the rapidly growing community and handle increasing visitor traffic.
- Migrate high-traffic websites from Django to WordPress CMS while maintaining SEO rankings and ensuring no loss in search visibility.
- Tailor editorial workflows to meet specific needs and preferences, addressing the limitations of the Django CMS.
Solution
- Our Solutions Architect led a discovery phase with the PerformanceIN team to assess their previous setup, sitemap, and configurations.
- We created a list of custom Gutenberg blocks, plugins, and widgets that needed to be developed to provide the customization, personalization, and other configurations and controls the editorial team required.
- We prepared page-specific test cases to ensure nothing broke after the migration.
- We developed an SEO preservation plan with the assistance of our Technical SEO specialists.
- With the help of our Page Performance expert, we prepared a performance checklist and guidelines to maximize page performance and loading speed.
- Our WordPress engineers built a WP-CLI script to migrate thousands of authors, news articles, blogs, jobs, and members from Django CMS to WordPress.
