Goal
- Enhance the website’s loading speed by addressing the complexities and performance issues caused by the Divi theme and multiple plugins.
- Transition from the Classic and Divi editors to the latest Gutenberg-compatible version to streamline content creation and management.
- Reduce plugin overload by consolidating or replacing numerous plugins used for sliders, shortcodes, SEO, cloning posts/pages, pop-ups, website performance, and security, thereby improving overall website performance.
- Adopt a more cost-effective, flexible, and user-friendly platform that enhances performance, supports marketing strategies, and improves the overall online presence.
Solution
- Successfully migrated the website from WP Engine to WordPress VIP hosting and transitioned from the Divi theme to the Gutenberg editor, enhancing content management efficiency.
- Ensured a seamless migration without impacting SEO or website performance.
- Consolidated all resource data into a single custom post type for easier management. Created dynamic resource listing blocks with various layouts to streamline resource module management, addressing previous issues of data fragmentation across posts, pages, and media.
- Implemented Mega Menu settings directly within the theme, replacing third-party plugins to improve website performance.
- Embedded HubSpot forms into Gutenberg blocks for simplified form management.
- Integrated TrustArc for cookie consent compliance.
- Developed reusable Gutenberg blocks to replace the complexity of Divi. These blocks include customizable settings for layouts, element visibility, and colors, allowing for flexible use across different pages.
- Created dynamic blocks for managing resource and blog modules, featuring options for hiding/showing elements, color adjustments, post selectors, layouts, and drag-and-drop functionality. These blocks facilitate the display of various categories efficiently.
- Developed a CLI script for migrating SEO meta data from posts and pages and another script for migrating content from the Classic editor to Gutenberg.
- Provided theme settings to manage header, footer, placeholder images, and script-related configurations.
Results
- Improved mobile page load speed by 34% and desktop speed by 65%, successfully meeting Core Web Vitals benchmarks.
- Simplified content management with the new Gutenberg Block Editor, making it easier to create and update pages.
- Implemented modern animations and design enhancements across the website.
- The Mobile Homepage Score increased by approximately 193.33%, while the Desktop Home Page Score increased by about 52.31%.
